- Maharashtra – The fisherfolks of the coasts throws coconuts into the sea as an offering. The traditional RakshaBandhan is celebrated after the worship of the sea
- Tamil Nadu, Kerala and parts of Odisha – This festival is basically for all the males in the family. It is celebrated on a full moon night. The Brahmins celebrate this occasion by taking a dip in the water to wash away their sins. After the occasion, the old thread tied on the body is replaced with a new one. They promise to be good and perform good actions in the coming year.
